Skittle colour Experiment - science

Aim:

I want to find out what happens when you mix Skittle colours.

Method:

Equipment

  • Skittles
  • Petri dish
  • Warm water
  • Beaker
  • White background
Instructions
  1. Get your equipment.
  2. Place your petri dish on the white background
  3. Put your Skittles around the inside edge of the petri dish.
  4. Gently, pour warm water into the middle of the petri dish.
  5. Observe what happens.
Prediction:

I think that the colours will all mix together and turn brown.

Results:

I saw the colour of each Skittle slowly dissolving into the water.
The colours spread out in a circle until the colours ran into each other.
The colours did not mix at the boundaries.

Discussion:

  1. The colour dissolved. Dissolve means when a soild mixes into a liquid creating a solvation.
  2. The colour spread out in the water. the colour was constrused and defiuse
  3. The colours did not mix. The colours had different solubities
